Today, I had the pleasure of attending and participating in the International Flag Exchange Ceremony hosted by the Rotary Club of Tiruchirapalli Butterflies at Breeze Residency, Trichy. This event was a momentous occasion, aimed at strengthening the bonds between Rotary clubs, particularly through a flag exchange between Rotary clubs in RID 3000 and a distinguished visiting club from RID 5300, Las Vegas, Nevada, United States.
An Evening to Remember
The ceremony was graced by the presence of prominent Rotary dignitaries, including Rtn. PDG, Rmpur Viswanath, who served as the special guest of the evening. With his wealth of experience as the Past District Governor of RID 5080 (covering Washington, Idaho, and British Columbia), his insights on international Rotary collaborations were truly inspiring.
The event was also attended by Rtn. R Raja Govindasamy, District Governor of RID 3000, and Rtn. AKS Dr. K Srinivasan, Media Publicity Officer for 2024-2025. Their leadership and dedication to the Rotary movement were evident throughout the evening, and it was an honor to witness their commitment firsthand.
Building International Connections
One of the key highlights of the ceremony was the flag exchange itself. It was more than just a symbolic gesture – it was a testament to Rotary’s global reach and the shared mission of service that binds clubs from all corners of the world. As part of the Rotary Club of Tiruchirapalli Phoenix, I felt immense pride seeing our region come together in collaboration with international counterparts, united in the spirit of Rotary.
Honoring Rotary Leaders
The evening also included felicitations for Rotary leaders such as Rtn. DGE J. Karthik, District Governor Elect for RID 3000 (2025-2026), Rtn. PDG Rajendran, and Rtn. PDG Dr. Zameer Pasha, both of whom have played pivotal roles in steering the Rotary mission forward in our region. Their contributions to service and leadership were celebrated, reminding us all of the significant impact of Rotary in local and global communities.
Reflecting on the Experience
As the Treasurer of Rotary Club of Tiruchirapalli Phoenix for the Rotary year 2024-2025, attending such an event was both a professional and personal highlight for me. It reinforced the values of Rotary – fellowship, service, and global unity. I had the opportunity to meet fellow Rotarians, exchange ideas, and discuss future projects that will continue to make a positive impact on the communities we serve.
